Though it became known in the 1930s as the “Daisy
Mae”—named after the female character in Al Capp’s comic Li’l Abner—this hat
design dates back to 1908. During World War I, the design was simplified: the cotton lining was removed, and the sweatband was changed from leather to denim. Around 1919, the crown construction appears to have shifted from a four-panel to a six-panel design. Denim hats for the CCC were likely produced according to the Quartermaster Corps Tentative Specification dated February 27, 1934. The final version, designated as 6-3A, was revised in 1937 into the M37—used as the reference for this Lot.US Military model.

Cotton

One Size Fits Most
